i am voting ingredients, not being saved. i think the guy waited too long to get "just right" stuff for a rescue.

Aww, now that would be a bit mean. It's one thing for someone to be doomed out in the middle of nowhere, but it's another with potential rescue almost within grasp... then again, I imagine that idea is quite appealing for some!

Harry continues to thrust the stick to Sally in hopes that her instinct is the grab the stick-once it touches her hand!!

Miraculously, Sally grabs the end of the stick. She is slowly but surely being pulled up from the quicksand!
