Pretty common really, though it does seem to be getting rarer these days. Mind you usage of any word with more than two syllables is getting rarer these days.

She has days off to indulge her pastime in privacy, well apart from the cameras.

You have to generate a lot of images to get a sequence of 12 consistent ones. Some can't be used for a variety of reasons (in this case hood down). It would be wasteful to discard the good ones or leave them neglected.
