For a man who's been dead for decades Kalton Lahue is doing a damn fine job as the leading historian of Hollywood's golden years.
This time round he's come up with two fine examples of damsels in quicksand peril.
The Swamp Monster was a 1930 offering from Mascot Pictures (later to become Republic Pictures) featuring a brunette Fay Wray before her 1933 breakout role as Ann Darrow in King Kong.
In 1941 RKO Studios made the creepy horror film The Somnambulist, starring Evelyn Ankers. She plays Constanza, the last member of an ancient family living in a crumbling east European castle. Afflicted with sleep walking she wanders the corridors and halls of the castle, eventually roaming around the dungeons in her somnambulistic trance. There she stumbles into a vault flooded with deep mud and awakens to find herself trapped and sinking into the deadly mire.
I've also created some other quicksand peril images with a retro feel, that nicely compliment the work of Kalton Lahue.

Chased through the jungle by savage natives the explorer finds herself trapped in deep quicksand.
A raging forest fire forces the girl to wade into the safety of a muddy clearing - but its not safe at all!
The living dead are awakened by the damsel in distress struggling to escape the quicksand and her tight bonds.
Trapped and helpless, the heroine needs to be saved before the rising mud finishes her.
