Did anyone else hear about this? I also heard that it might be a movie marketing stunt. Either way, I'm glad I don't live in South Carolina! I mean, I've never seen a clown in real life and I don't think I'm afraid of them per se, but I am afraid of Ronald McDonald and Pennywise looks extremely creepy to me! So, I guess any clown that looks worse than Ronald McDonald or Pennywise is pretty darn scary!
I just can't imagine seeing a clown in real life! I feel bad for the people in South Carolina! They must be terrified!

It's cruel and unusual to prank someone like that! lol! The part that freaked me out was the clown pouring the "gasoline" around the car while he and the "victim" kept staring at each other. The clown had the "The f**K you lookin' at!?" look!
I watched the first two videos, but I was too scared to watch the last one! And I didn't click on the third one because I was afraid you snuck something Ronald McDonald related in there for kicks and giggles.

The pranksters were lucky none of their victims had friends like Smith and Wesson, Colt or Glock, or there would be a pile of dead clowns scattered about.

I don't want to scare you even more...but if you ever get in the mood to scare yourself, go to Google and type in "original Ronald McDonald". He was a real weirdo with a soft drink cup on his nose and a box on his head. He carried a little tray with McDonald's food on it.
It's pretty terrible and he appears on YouTube lists of advertising that didn't work.
I have no fear of clowns at all if they are where clowns belong (onstage) doing what clowns do (being funny). But this is really creepy. I don't, by the way, think a clown costume is the best thing to wear if you want to do something nefarious. If the police have to run after a clown, all they have to do is follow the colors. Plus, wouldn't the costume itself become evidence if the police find it in your home?

Perhaps the clown disguise is a good way to put us off our guard. If a clown approaches you the tendency is to think funny/prank or advertising By the time we realise its serious & for real the slap-stick has become a club & the custard pie a thrown rock

The original Ronald McDonald sounds terrifying! I most certainly won't be looking him up!
I don't know anything about clowns. People around my age went to Chuck E. Cheese and Discovery Zone for birthday parties as kids. I wonder how and why clowns went from something innocent seen at children's birthday parties everywhere to something threatening and nightmare inducing. I also wonder if any of the children in South Carolina were traumatized after seeing the clowns. That's be a real shame.

Apparently--supposedly--incidents like this have happened before.

Re: Creepy Clown Sightings In South Carolina
The tradition of clowns, and of the circus, are not about entertainment: they are warnings, handed down from ancient times. Much like the rites attached to All Hallow's Eve, we've diluted it over the years and turned it into a kid's game. There was an excellent documentary made on the subject back in 1988.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.
