Many years ago when for a summer celebration we decided to have MaINE lobster, we developed a plan that if my neice, who about seven at the time, showed ANY reluctance to eat her lobster we would simply accept that. It would leave one more for the rest of us. So if some folks turn up their noses at mud, I say lets use the same plan.

Naturally, the plan with the lobsters did not work. She ate hers with great relish.

As far as the cost, you calculate the cost is upward of $10,000. According to the viewcount on the video of over 9 million views, I estimate the revenue is over $22,000.

Here is another one. This video says they used 25 Million Orbeez. According to their view count, I estimate their revenue so far is $43,000.
[EDIT: as pointed out below, there are underage persons in the video - GW ]

If you investigate further I think you will find that revenue from YouTube is a bit more complicated that just viewcount.

Perhaps not simple but based on my own YouTube revenue, a rough estimate.

I figured I would give you a head's-up that while the video you linked to (and has been subsequently quoted in the two replies after that) was very fascinating in terms of someone testing how deep he would sink into the pool full of Orbeez, later on in the video, some underage individuals joined in on the fun, which unfortunately spoils things, making the video inappropriate for our adult-themed site. :(
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

And not so difficult to clean up from either? :D (Mind you, how you get rid of them again after... )

There are other brands of these called "Water Gems" "water beads" or "Jelly Beedz"and they come in many colors including clear & opaque black which would make a perfect caviar vat (ala Batgirl) I've bought them at Michael's craft stores, they come either hydrated in a jar, or better still in their tiny bead form about the size of a sesame seed. When added to water they grow 6x their size to about 1cm. When hydrated they can be crushed with a garlic press to make a non-ball looking mucky slime. Another similar substance is "Squishy Baff" a colored powder that turns water into thick slime (dissolves with table salt for removal) I use these alot for making quicksand peril situations to photograph toys, dolls & figures for the fans

*I just added some example pics if you want to see: Member submissions / manipulations / custom QS models

There's no way in hell those 2 chick's paid over 10 grand for a silly youtube stunt.

I'm sure there's a more inexpensive option. There are like 20 or more videos of people swimming in these orbeez. No way they are all shelling out 10k or even 5k for it.

It's entirely possible, though. All of the accounts showcasing absurd numbers of these orbeez are easily achieving anywhere from 5-30 million views per video, which is a huge chunk of money in revenue. The rest of their channel videos are also popular, so perhaps they also have large sums of money sitting around...?

It is ridiculous though, I'll give you that.

I think it is quite likely true that the producers of the discussed videos did not pay that much. The price I mentioned is the price I found searching for the product. Perhaps they were underwritten by the manufacturer?
