Appropriate that the header for this post is "The Detour" as we have taken one here.
Nonetheless, here is something to think about to pile on to this subject:

Re: The Detour
It ended up being more comedic than anything else, but not bad.
Naturally, later in the show when they got out, they hardly had any dirt or mud on them. Typical.

That links pointed to an article "Everything From This 1991 Radio Shack Ad You Can Now Do With Your Phone". Doesn't seem relevant, bit of an error with the link perhaps?

That link was posted in response to the posts regarding old vcr's, namely on the general "off topic" subject of outdated technology.

Interesting, although the author was off by at least one item in his count. iPhones can do a lot of things, but they cannot replicate a Citizens Band radio. You know, the kind you can call for help on, Cell Signals notwithstanding.

CB's don't let you dial 911... CB's don't let you dial home. CB's are of very limited range, relatively speaking.
But a CB is a public communication device, which made them fun to listen too. I can still remember the fella who asked his buddy to play Santa Claus on the radio for his kids. He did a nice job of it. You talk to someone, you talk to everyone in range. That is both good and bad, depending on what you have to say and to whom.
