That's the hope.

There may be a difference between her hope and ours...

Pardon my naivety, but are these attachments animated?

No, these are stills from my work in progress animated movie. If look on page 2 of this thread, you can download a small test clip of when the girl first falls into the pit, or you can see it on DA here...

Here is frame 8500 of the quicksand simulation! :D That means the hardest part of the movie is done. I still have to do the rendering, editing, sound effects, maybe music, and an bunch of other little things, so there's still a lot to do, but we're getting closer! :D

What do you see? :? Well, except for Paris's towel, you see NOTHING! Notice how flat and smooth the surface of the bog is. It's almost as if she never existed in the first place. There's no sign that anything tragic or dramatic happened here!

Unless somebody comes along and can reach a hand deep into the hungry quicksand, there's nothing left but the stillness; stillness and waiting for the next victim!

What was that old song by Hall and Oates? "She's go-o-o-o-one..." :D

Wait! She's back! :D Or is she? :?

Hi everybody! :D

Sorry I've not posted anything in a while. I've started rendering out shot 5, which is the longest and most important shot in the movie. In other words, the MONEY SHOT!

This is frame 1051. It's the first frame from this camera angle of a 150 frame shot. Paris has not yet seen the sign and does not yet know the trouble she's in. She's just trying to get out of this sticky gross mud! :o

Anyway...Why is this taking so long you ask? Well, unlike simulating out in Real Flow which I could leave running 24/7, I can only simulate out 1 to 2 hundred frames at at time. That and having to work for a living slows the process quite a bit. I hope to get a lot done this weekend, and I've got a vacation coming up.

As the scene progresses, I have been stopping and systematically painting the girl's skin everywhere the mud touches her body, including her hair, bit by bit with Photoshop. It's a slow and painstaking process, and it's not going to be perfect. I'm going to make some mistakes, I'm going to miss some things, but I hope it will be good enough to add another layer of realism to this. I did the same thing in Disappearing Act and it came out well, although the girl's movement were a lot less complicated in that movie.

Again, I'll keep you posted.

Cheers! :)

Yep! That's it! :D Thanks for noticing. There actually is a way for the fluid to paint an object automatically within Real Flow, it's called a Wet Map. I tried to use it once but for several technical reasons, mostly due to the way the geometry is laid out in the girl figure, it never really works. :(

So, this will just have to do. ;)

I wonder if Paris imagines that all the mud on the back of her head might make for a good hair treatment...
