Indeed, it was cancer of the colon.

As it happened, he backed into a job that came with health benefits. So what he thought was simply digestive issues was finally properly diagnosed, and he received fairly decent care after that.

It's hard to say how long it prolonged his life, but it was better than nothing.

Yeah, he was. I'm still a little upset at myself for not trying to reach to him and with this community sooner.

I was once a part of this community and several like it, long, long ago. Now I'm not a part of anything, anywhere, in meatspace or online, and I never will be, ever again. The world has moved on, and I am a relic of the past, a relic who belongs nowhere anymore.

I communicated with Dennis once or twice. I wish I had known him better. And I never will.
One more time regret in an ocean of regret.
