Very interesting article. Almost sounded like the author may be interested in signing on as one of the assistants for the next shooting season.

Interesting, though rather dated with respect to our community.
Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

I can't even begin to tell y'all how much I grinned while reading this piece! I admit it's a long article; I started skimming about halfway through. But I'm thrilled to see work like this out there.

Finally got around to reading that. Nice to see a scholarly discussion of quicksand that neither shies away from nor wags a scornful figure at the fetish aspect.

I agree - I read the entire article and it was thoughtful and respectful of the interest. I think he missed (in my opinion) the basic reason for the disappearance of the damsel quicksand scene: women's equality. It is simply not politically correct any more for a movie producer to put a woman in a helpless situation and have some "dominant" male rescue her. So we won't see that kind of scene for a long, long time.

While I admire the reason for the genre's disappearance - sigh - sometimes I long for one more good scene in which some guy saves the woman at just the last second, with her hands outstretched and sinking under the surface. I doubt I will live to see this again in the mainstream movie world.

But still, the Slate piece was long and thoughtful.
