Actually, that was Major General John Sedgwick, commanding the Federal VI Corps in the Army of the Potomac at the Battle of Spotsylvania - May 1864.

Re: Famous last words..
I remember a 2 person scene from a movie:
1) "What do we do now?!"
2) "We die."
(I doubt many of you remember "The Last Starfighter")

Some random ones from roleplaying games, a brilliant source of famous last words.
"Don't be stupid, Stormtroopers couldn't hit the broad side of a barn at this dist--"
"It's okay, we cleared this level."
"What do you MEAN the entire room detects as a trap???"
"Trust me--this will work!"
From real life:
"Hey, bubba. Hold my beer."

How about
Another fine mess you got us into.
One story line could be two gals are on a treasure hunt. Both gals are really greedy and want the treasure for themesleves and are trying to trick the other into some quicksand to get rid of the other.
Well as it turns out the plan backfires for both gals and they BOTH wind up in the same quicksand pit at the same time. They both argue as they sink. When they're let's say chest deep a third person (either guy or gal) walks by with the treasure for their self and says "A fool and their money are soon parted."
Any more bright ideas?

HI Fred
What I meant was by the last one (Any more bright ideas) was for a story line. Two gals are in some quicksand both trying to get out. As they continue to sink every idea they had to try to get out didn't work so just before they go under one says to the other sarcastically "Any more bright ideas?"
