Well, I'm sure smarter writers have plenty to say about the 4-3 OT Phily win, but all I got to say, is if you blow a 3-stride offside call that allows a goal, you dont deserve a job in the NHL as an official

Predators hang on to a 3-2 win over the Wings; dont get to see them much due to the broadcast sched in Ontario, but they are a solid looking team. Love their home uniforms  And , what genius came up with the catfish idea? I get the squid for Detroit, but c'mon :P

Late game just starting
I need a drink

LA scores a late 3rd period goal to earn a well-deserved victory over Vancouver. Jonathan Quick was solid in goal, and LA as a team, put in a performance best described as 'feisty'. Vancouver, once again showed why they are an easy team to hate; being a bunch of whiners and cheapshot artists, while acting as if they are the chosen ones and these pesky games just an impediment to their coronation. Frankly, I detest them at the cellular level.

Tonight has:
Ottawa in NY Rangers
Washington in Boston
San Jose in St Louis
Chicago in Phoenix

What I know about hockey would go in a small thimble but that doesn't keep me from being a Predators fan. As for the catfish, it's the staple "seafood" of the region. Ever try to buy a squid in Nashville?

That Stanley Cup is going to look good with Dolly Parton standing next to it.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

The Cup has seen a lot of stuff over the years, so Dolly would be a nice addition. Not even close to weird  There's actually a little bit on TSN now going over the trials and tribulations it's gone through; Lost overnite in a motel, possibly with hookers involved (Edmonton, and some guys who shall remain nameless...) someone's basement, went swimming in a pool, gone fishing in NWT, left by side of road.... :D

The Detroit Octopus (squid just being crass :P ) originally goes back to when there were less teams, and you only needed 8 wins to win the cup; 8 arms, so, ok...

Catfish a good counter for a relatively young team, and fits nicely ;)

Pens loss is a big frustration  but if a fourth is not to be, hopefully Vancouver can end their long, terrible drought. It'd be nice for the city to have its first cup since the Millionaires hoisted it back in 1915.

Despite a torturous session of dump and chase by Ottawa, managed to sit through it all, with the Rangers scoring a 4-2 win. Wasn't exactly cinematic.

Boston just scored in OT to defeat Washington 1-0 in a game that had a lot of good goaltending at both ends. Thomas wasn't as busy as Holtby, but was sharp when needed.

St Louis and San Jose presently in OT 2-2 , halfway though the first OT period. This one has lots of energy, and up and down. Suspect will lose some the longer OT goes on - these things can be a nasty cycle of bursts of action followed by lots of sparring :P

Chicago - Phoenix just underway

Update: 2256 EST OT1 complete in St Louis, still deadlocked; longer this goes I fear winning goal has higher chance of being scored as ricochet off of someone's forehead... :P

Update: 2315 EST, Martin Havlat scores the winner on a nice one timer just over 3 min into 2nd OT.
3-2 final San Jose

Update: 0032 EST , Seabrooke ties it up for Chicago with 14.2 seconds to go. Here we go again :) Need more fluids....

Update: 0100 EST , Hanzal scores for Phoenix on a tip, Phoenix takes game 1 3-2

All I ask is please, no OT games tomorrow, especially on the left coast...

Tonights games:

Detroit in Nashville
New Jersey in Florida
Philadelphia in Pittsburgh
Los Angeles in Vancouver

Disciplinary notes: Vancouver's Byron Bitz is suspended 2 games for his head shot on Kyle Clifford; it's uncertain whether he will play in Game 2
Nashville's Shea Weber fined 2500 bucks for his double glove slam to back of Henrik Zetterberg's head into the glass. Some whining over this one, all I got to say is if you dont want that, dont slash someone on the back of their knee, Henrik

3-2 Detroit, to even the series going back to Detroit, solid effort by the Wings
NJ opens their series with 3-2 win; they were up 3-0 in the first period, outshooting Florida 26-5. Florida came back, but not quite enough.

Phily wins again, 8-5 in a game with utterly no defence or goaltending. SLOPPY. Better get their ass in gear or this series will be over by Tuesday.

Vancouver and LA just about to get underway.

Yeah the Pens Defense one like 5 of the goals against just stood around and never even had their sticks on the ice to block passes or challenge the players, if I was the Coach I would be off my head by now.
