Re: Happy Birthday, Nessie!!!
Thank you for the birthday wishes, fellas.
One year ago today, they really were friendly, warm and deep. I spent my birthday in the Massivian mudpit and even turned it into a video.
No such luck this year. Had to work my day job. No sinking for me. Anyway, the mud has gotten chilly earlier this year.
But, hey, the weather is still good. I will at least get outdoors a bit later today!

I can't say my day job is all that bad. I've had worse. Lots worse.
Your sister too, eh?
I feel like I have a special bond with other 9/11 babies. We should start a club or something.

Re: Happy Birthday, Nessie!!!
I also want to wish you a Happy Birthday, Nessie!
Regarding the mud getting chilly earlier this year, on my latest sink this past Friday, the top layer of my Crescent Road pond bog, which used to be nice and warm in previous sinks, had a stinging cold layer embedded in it, with the surface warming slowly penetrating downward throughout the day from the sunshine. After Friday, Saturday and Sunday being hot and summery, I think it snowed on my bog Monday night (either that or raining slush or a very cold rain)!
But, it must have been gone by 10:30 am Tuesday morning, because that is when I saw that the white was gone from the high elevations from my vantage point at home. Weather is warming up towards the end of the week, and will feel like summer again, in the afternoons, at least.
But, it is now Hunting Season here!
I still may plan at least one more outing, but will have to play it by ear.
Anyways, I hope you make the most out of the remainder of the sinking season!

Oh, I will!
The video season is obviously done. The SINKING season, though, lasts 'til freeze!
About the hunting, though...once that kicks in, I lose more locations to that than I do to the weather. Nothing's worse than arriving at a nice beautiful stretch of what I know to be sinky boggy legal public marshland only to see the sign:
DEER HUNT IN PROGRESS
DO NOT GO OFF DESIGNATED TRAILS
Sometimes a place that otherwise doesn't have hunting at all surprises me and has a short hunt over a weekend when they decide there are too many deer. So it's not always, precisely, predictable.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Nessie!!!!!!!
I hear ya, Nessie. I lost two Soldiers on my base on my B-day this year. (2-Aug) I was joking about the Alarm sending us to the Bunker, before I knew that we lost them, and I felt like Dog chit. I down loaded and printed out their Obits online and signed their "Guest books". One was a sniper assigned to a EOD team, and I put one of my signatures "Aim Small, Miss Small". I am pretty "sober" about this for the most part, but 2 sets of families are affected, and I welcome them into my life anytime.
