Besides walking outdoors naked and building bonfires, shooting those just steps outside my door has been a true pleasure that California will never permit....

Have you done any of these in combination? ;)

Hmm. No. :)

We've had naked ladies dancing in front of a bonfire.

I enjoy not having to get dressed to join the dog outside for early morning relief. The remoteness is also handy when ditching soaked and filthy construction clothing.

Shooting guns is usually spontaneous. 8-)

Once you get used to longer commutes for work, groceries, entertainment, etc rural living is awesome. Right now I'm an unhappy member of suburbia due to running across a cheap house I couldn't pass out......can't wait to flip it and get back out in the woods where I belong.

I own one of each, and to be honest I believe it's a matter of personal preference as to which is better for you. My 870 carries more rounds (extended tube) but I personally prefer the 590A1. The safety is in a more convenient location, and I appreciate the heavy barrel of the 590A1. Both are very easy to clean and use.
For the record, I replaced the spring in both with Wolff springs and both function magnificently. I'm marginally more accurate with the 590A1 but it's very close (could be coincidence), and I am very, very happy with both of them.

Both of mine are ghost sight; I have an older Savage with bead sight, and honestly I've grown accustomed to both, and do not have a preference.

I would say whichever you can get (availability can be a big problem) for the lowest price, would be my determining factor. They are that close in performance and usability.
