This is definitely one of my favorite scenes ever, too. For a number of reasons:

- beautiful actress, dressed sexy;
- the quicksand looks innocent, like it is part of the group;
- the quicksand is very thick; not watery at all;
- the drama of the situation, especially the damsel slowly sinking while she's waiting for the rescuer to cut the vine;
- actress does a great job looking worried!

Would be fun to try and remake this. :)

Although, I would probably have our new damsel slip beneath the surface, hand raised and then the rescue!!!

That would work for me, too! :D

Or maybe, no one comes in time to rescue her... :twisted:

I'd buy it, particularly if Ludella could be persuaded to give it a shot!

They weren't too skilled at colorizing B/W photos back then, were they? Compare to the movie stills.

This scene,along with Tarzan's Hidden Jungle scene with Vera Miles are the absolute peak of what our little interest (obsession haha) is all about!

Not so much the skill at colorizing but the limitations of cheap quick printing back then. Lobby cards were meant to be inexpensive and temporary.

Presenting the one format that HASN'T drifted away from the quicksand theme over the decades, and in fact has beaten this cartoon idea to death...POLITICAL QUICKSAND!
