I'm more in tune with the drama, frankly. The victim or victims can be in any state of dress/undress - I have my preferences, as do everyone here, but it ultimately doesn't matter. What matters is how the lady gets into the mud/clay/peat/hollywood qs, and how she behaves in it. Does she really sell the terror of being devoured by liquid earth? That is the main selling point for me. The peril. All about, and almost nothing but.

For me, too, grim endings are a preference. Total submergence, a close second. I always feel cheated if the victim escapes. Unless... and this is the exception.... she is a good girl and yeah, earns her escape. Or gets away from a bad girl who goes under instead. That last one really works...

The sexual element never even occurred to me until I found the community in 1998 and started reading the tales. That did open a whole new side for me, one in which I admit I have a lot of fun exploring  And still do, truth be told...

But that doesn't take away my preference for the ladies in peril element, which remains my main reason for enjoying qs scenes.

I've often wondered if it wasn't linked to some vestigial part of the psyche left over from eons ago. Reminds me of amphibians and fish or even insects that spawn in mud. Who knows what's left over in our DNA.

New to this forum but old to the fetish (and a few may recognize me from previous versions of this forum) so here it goes...

I think I kind of line up with the "connection to the earth" philosophy. The earliest fantasies I had about deep mud (admittedly not extremely deep, but definitely deep enough to lay and get sort of stuck in it) were all me relaxing in it before someone came out and made love to me while in it. I think it's because I recognized a lot of qualities of mud/clay that sex (was then rumored to) have/has. Slimy, wet, creamy, are also used to describe sex sometimes. Mud is also somewhat submissive (allowing you to sink into it) but also a bit dominant (difficult to get out of/get stuck in it).

Maybe this phenomenon has something to do with the most basic, PRENATAL state of consciousness like when you are contained in some dark and liquid environment. We should compare it with state of sensomotoric deprivation which is also created in closed tanks where you are floating in dense liquid with no light or sounds comming from outside. It should be similar to the effects of some psychedelics which are also able to force your brain to that most basic state. Another point is the penetration sensation which is strongly related to sex. This is what i enjoy the most, the first steps, penetrating the mud. After that (when I watch it on video) the turn on partialy diminishes. Next point is the adrenaline effect which multiplies the previous two aspects. The last aspect is common for all pornography and it is the so called "mirror neuron" effect. That is when you watch somebody doing something it activates some parts of your brain which are also activated when you do it by yourself. So watching sinking videos is not so much different from real sinking in terms of brain response.

To be frank, I never really saw it as a fetish. I always loved playing in mud as a kid, long before the thought of sex ever even crossed my mind. The more my Mom told me not to get muddy, the more I wanted to play in it. I remember going to Florida on family vacations when I was just six or seven. I loved looking out the car window as the mudflats flew past. I remember daydreaming that I was out in all that mud, trapped and slowly sinking as I watched the cars race past on the not too distant highway. I never imagined that one day I'd actually live in the same part of the state that once held so much mud. Well, the majority of those mudflats are long gone, replaced with several decades of urban sprawl. Fortunately, with a bit of searching, the remeains of all those mudflats can still be found, with much of what's left being protected so they don't disappear altogether.
