Found a photo

Postby Downunder » Mon Jun 08, 2015 8:20 pm

I have been backing up and archiving all the stuff I have collected over the years, stories, video and photos, getting them onto DVDs.
Some date back to the old BBS days, making international calls with the old modems and ordering but mail for Video Tapes.
Anyway I came across this image of my all time favourite 'Kristine".
I have no idea how I got it. Can anyone enlighten me about this image? :?:

Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, she is up to her chest in submerged mud when that picture was taken - at the end of the 'Exploring Mary River Mud' (which was sometimes in two parts, depending on where and when it was presented).

But Duncan took the shot, and probably has more insight on it.

An early gem, for sure. :)

I recall a couple of sequences shot of her in or around that same water covered spot when she went under completely, bubbling as she went. Kristine sold me on the underwater quicksand thing completely. :D

Here I am. Late to the party as usual.

Yes, I shot that of Kristine on 12 Aug. 2000 in Chester, Illinois. We were at or near Chuck's beach area at the mouth of the Mary's River where it hits the Mississippi.

Looking at it will give you some idea of why it's such a quicksandy area. The water level can vary a great deal over the course of a year but it was relatively low at that time. Kristine was somewhere between knee and thigh deep in this ooze that I couldn't not get to the bottom of with a long stick. In classic fashion she kept fighting and sinking as a result. I was taking all the photos a little Nikon Coolpix 950 could at the time without getting too close.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

That is what I loved about Kristine the way she fights and struggles. I loved the roles she played in the videos. It was great when I saw her some where as a jungle explorer and always wished she would do a jungle girl one day.
Well I will keep wishing.
I am still archiving the stuff I have and setting up to convert the boxes of video tape I have to computer.

Lets see what I find. :)

Looking forward to any future discoveries. :)

That was the great thing about Kristine. She often lacked that filter that causes most of us to stop before plunging ahead. Very few ever actually witnessed some of the crazy stuff she did and not all of that went on the camera. She wasn't fearless. She was scared to death a lot of times out in the wild but she liked it that way.
