In quicksilt/clay, what if someone were to tie dumbells to their feet?

I have done it. It usually works, if the quicksand is deep enough. But it makes it even more difficult to get out, and is not the safest thing to do. It can be way to make quicksand behave the way it should behave. Depending on the size of the dumbbells as well as what you are sinking in.

I do know of people for whom the thrill of sinking wears thin by itself, and they do stuff like that to heighten the danger. I've traded emails with folks who get themselves tied up in quicksand -- for real.

Sometimes I feel very lucky in my fetish.

Given that the muscles of the human leg are designed to push against the ground and not to lift things from the ground, I would expect doing something like this to be extremely dangerous.

ive worn a backpack with dumbells in it before to try and submerge in t hick silt,. it diddnt work no matter how much weight I put in it,. all I got was painfull shoulders from the straps - however when I tried it in a peat bog,. different story! it was amazing to actually "sink" instead of having to pull yourself down or under - but not for the faint hearted

I have as well. It never worked for me either! The only thing that has ever worked for me was to have an ex girlfriend put her hands on my shoulders while I was sinking. She was on the edge of the pit and pushed me under (sort of like doing a push-up). Now that was fun! Of course, finding a woman again that is willing to do that is no longer likely! That was many years ago, and women over 50 that still want to get muddy are rare indeed!

At my Harris Creek quicksilt slide area, I used to use a pair of discarded jeans made into a makeshift backpack with bale string, containing a large lead fishing weight and a discarded transformer. But, it only changed my buoyancy point from my belly button to my lower chest. I tried holding onto other heavy things as well, but could never get past my armpits in the quicksilt using those things. It is such a shame, because I loved the feel of the quicksilt sooo much, and it seems to be the closest thing that Mother Nature has to oobleck. I sooo badly wanted to immerse as much of my body in it as I could!

On a slightly different subject, in my earlier large post, one of the areas I linked to has caught my attention:

https://www.google.ca/maps/@55.1663704,9.3592866,742m/data=!3m1!1e3

When I came across it, I couldn't help but feel that I had seen that photo before! I seem to vaguely remember that some Quicksand Fans thread had me examining an area on Google Earth/Maps that looked exactly like this one, and that it had great bogs there (and it does look boggy, which is why I included it in the examples). :? But, I haven't been able to locate that thread to verify if that was the same location.
:?:
:?
I sink, therefore I WAM!!!!

I have searched my area before, I'm wondering if there is something that I might have missed around Marcola, Oregon.
