Australian Infantry Live-Fire OPS At RIMPAC 2016 Short video

Interesting collection of small arms, including some space guns even. I'm sure have seen before, but the name escapes me

IWI Tavor. Meh. Too much money for too little improvement over the AR platform imho. But I don't have a money machine and a billion dollar defense budget..........

Same ammo as the ARs, but in an Army, you'd think commonality would be a thing for the bean counters when you have millions and millions of rounds of ammo, and likewise parts, slings even, so doing anything to save a buck here and there, and before long you talking real money. Perhaps the space guns were issued to SF units or something? I know pretty much nothing about the Aussie's TO &E

I wondered what all that noise was.

They use the same mags too which is a big plus.
A HUGE drawback is that the design puts the ejector port right under your cheek, so while technically it can be configured for right or left hand operation it's not truely ambidextrous (unless you want to go full Rambo and spray from the hip with your off hand). If you have it configured right and try to shoot left you'll get a face full of hot brass and probably jam the ejector port.
