Very nice report from that adventure!
Too bad that you did hit the solid, rocky bottom too early. This can ruin an experience.

For me, this area and type of mud would be the perfect playground for (thigh-)booted fun, like "trying" not to sink past the boot-tops and checking how stuck i can get
Did you wear wellies or other type of boots?

I've seen them become wonderful anchors. There's still a couple of pairs at the bottom of my old pit. Fredricks of Hollywood loved us

Nothing better than the knee-trembling thrill of finding out by "accident" that your boots aren't tall enough for the job!!!
