I don't know how many ever noticed before but Brinke has these huge almond shaped eyes that are very expressive and give her a subtle exotic look. I asked her about it once and she told me that she has some recent Asian ancestry. Here is someone who could be chin deep in a bog and still invite you to come get her with just an expression. Now that's a look.

While this isn't something I've actually discussed with Brinke, in my over 20 years of Brinke-fanhood, I've read WAY too many interviews with her. Her ancestry is 1/4 Mongolian and 3/4 German, and she's often stated that almost all her relatives are six foot tall and blonde. If you watch this, there are some baby pictures of Brinke where her Asian heritage is more pronounced in her face. She has stated that when she was a child, neighbors would think she was a Korean orphan that her parents had adopted.

I agree that her eyes are very expressive, and contribute to her (vastly-underrated) talents as an actress. If you haven't seen Grandmother's House, I highly recommend it. It is one of her better films, and, may be her best acting performance. Brinke's role is mostly silent and she had to do a lot of acting with her eyes and through body language. I should warn you that Grandmother's House is very divorced from her normal sexy image....(Yeah, I know Brinke can't NOT be sexy, but watch the film. She's very eerie and unnerving.)

Actually, while you mention how inviting she's able to look with just a glance...and I entirely agree with you...I think she also makes great use of her eyes when plays an evil, murderous part as well. I don't know of ANY actress (not just the scream queens) who can play psychotic nut jobs as well as Brinke does. That's just proof of what a great actress she is, because she is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. If any of you get a chance to go to a convention where she is appearing, go.

Exactly right and that's one reason why she's still busy working a long time after most of the ladies in her genre have retired. Ever see Haunting Fear where she chases Jan Michael Vincent around with a butcher knife? That's some scary eyes there.

I always thought Brittany played an awesome villain. When she does (like in "push the button Maxine") she has the cold dead eyes of a reptile predator. And the one where she was running through the woods with a bloody knife and blood on her clothes- awesome.

Yes, I have seen Haunting Fear, which I think would be the prime competition for Grandmother's House as her finest acting performance. Brinke considers HF to be her finest movie. I like how HF gave Brinke an opportunity to go from a relatively "normal" person to the insane psycho at the end. I only wish the DVD release of Haunting Fear hadn't had such a short shelf life, so that some of the QS fans who may have only discovered her here would have a chance to see it. My recommendation for those of you who have still have a VHS player is to pick up a copy on tape. The DVD was badly edited and looked like it was sourced from a well-worn tape recorded in SLP mode.

I don't know if there would be any interest, but I've thought several times about starting a thread and recommending some of Brinke's best films for QS fans who might not have seen any of her "scream queen" work. Would anyone be interested in that? I was fortunate that I was in college during the scream queen heyday (late 80s-early 90s) and lots of guys around campus were into at least one of the scream queens. Of course, Brinke was always my favorite.

Brittany will definitely fool you. I think it's ironic that like Brinke she's very petite with these big eyes that can just go icy wicked when she wants.

I think that would be a great idea. You could go ahead and start it in Off Topic and let some of these folks see what they've been missing. I actually own a copy of one of Julie Strain's last movies where she co-starred with Brinke - Delta Delta Die! I'll have to find it and clip the scene where Brinke and Julie fight it out. Julie's over six feet tall but Brinke "acts" as big as she has to.
