Redjak's evil experiments into how long his victims could survive when deprived of air or when entombed under tons of mud continued apace.

In one way it was a mercy for a girl to be abducted by him, immobilised in rope and/or tape and then sunk in his quicksand pits. That's because if she survived one of his deranged, breath-related mud experiments, it was a forgone conclusion that he was going to sink her in quicksand anyway.
