As we near our fourth anniversary, I thought it would be nice to acknowledge that, and offer some information about Quicksandfans.
Most important, I think, is our hosting. It has been pretty solid lately (Dave touches wood). We are well below our disk space limit (see attached) and have received no indications of excessive bandwidth usage. From a storage perspective, we could go another 15 to 20 years at the current rate of usage.
All associated domains have just renewed for another two years.
The entire site is incrementally backed up every day, to a remote server. So, even if something were to happen within the hosting account, the entire board can be restored (although it would take several days). But, it's nice to know that everyone's' contributions are protected in this way.
As many of you are aware, Viridian is our new 'front line' moderator. Please continue to support him as he keeps the peace. General Woundwort thankfully continues his moderation duties as well.
And, while on the subject of moderation, I can say that the latest round of attempted accommodation backfired (after successfully integrating two other 'banned' personalities). So, I currently have a very low tolerance for trolls or troublemakers, and will back up Viridian and The General with vigor.
And once again, a big thanks goes out to Kookus, our technical administrator.
Over-all, I think that Quicksandfans is a healthy board, reflecting a healthy and diverse community. We're not new, but for a 'mature' community, we are showing good longevity. I would like to personally thank everyone who contributes here, and also those who (also) support our community producers. All of it is greatly appreciated.
Comments are welcome.
