Al Feldstein RIP

The news today reports that Al Feldstein, editor of Mad Magazine for nearly 30 years, has passed away at 88.

A loss of a great pioneer in comics. He was the hidden talent behind Bill Gaines in EC comics, then Mad, the sole survivor of EC, which of corse went n to bigger fame.

The earliest Mad Magazine I remember, probably around 1959 or 60, perhaps a little later, featured a series of spoofs of current commercials. One I recall in particular showed a very angry, wet, and soapy (right out of the shower) man answering an apparent wrong number, with the caption, "Aren't you glad you know how to dial?....Don't you wish everybody did?"

I remember a cartoon in my older cousin's Mad Magazine about some really well built hippie chicks skinny dipping. I couldn't have been more than 10 years old but I knew I really liked what I saw and what I didn't. I became an instant fan.
