Help a small publisher? Kickstarter

No political or religious topics please. Otherwise, anything goes, as long as we treat each other with respect.

Help a small publisher? Kickstarter

Postby Lomax » Wed Oct 01, 2014 6:23 am

Publishing is changing. The traditional model, whilst not exactly dying, is not the be-all and end-all these days. The rise of e-books and self-publishing is fragmenting the market; leaving room for smaller, more flexible (and, dare I say it, more author-friendly) concerns to raise their heads above the parapet.

One of these is Ghostwoods Books.

Ghostwoods' most recent publication is Cthulhu Lives, featuring a story by me, and which I've already plugged on this site. The people behind Ghostwoods are asking me (nicely, but in a manner I can't really refuse) to spread the word about their Kickstarter project.

I presume you know about Crowd-sourcing and such. If you do, you know more than me, so I won't bother with the details. Anyway, Ghostwoods are working on (amongst other things) an anthology tentatively entitled Haunted Futures, for which I'm working on a rather dystopian tale; and for which crowd-sourcing is necessary.

So, as I promised my publishers (I find it odd using that term), here is the link.

I'm sorry if I sound needy - but I'd be grateful if you could at least spread the word.

Will do what I can. I love the whole concept of crowd funding.

It occurs to me that I really ought to have provided an update. So here it is, albeit about a fortnight late.

Ghostwoods made their target with a few hours to spare. Huzzah.

I don't know if any of you were moved to stump up - but if you were, thanks.

Which means that I now have no excuse not to sit down at the keyboard and damn well get on with it. Not quite so huzzah. Now; can I sneak a semi-colon past my editors, or will they all be expunged again?
