Ok so I was drving to a gym that's a little further than my main gym due to this one not being as packed. As I was getting close to my gym I noticed big bulldozers clearing out an empty lot that had a leak in it right next to the gym. This really intrigued me because I noticed they were filling the lake with dirt and sand and digging up a lot of mud. So I told myself I'd come back later that night
Later that night around 10 PM I set off for my adventure. I wasn't really prepared for what was about to happen as I only brought a pair of clothes and a towel. I parked my car behind a small dark shopping center. There were no fences so I pretty much walked right on to the site. I left my phone car keys and shoes by a tree next to where I walked onto the site. I started by hitting up some spots that I saw were dug up by a bulldozer. It wasn't anything special, what Sandy knee-deep pretty good stuff. I moved from that spot and started walking to the other side of the lot where there was mountains of mud probably close to 20 feet tall which really excited me because I knew that mud was all dug up that day and it should be soft and very sinkable.
As I got to the mountain of Mud I was immediately disappointed as everywhere I stepped I would instantly sink to my knees but immediately get turned back by a rocky bottom, pretty much like all my other adventures. The only thing keeping me going was the consistency of this stuff. I mean it was like the perfect peat consistency not too thick not too watery. I walked around the mud pile and noticed what looked like a very small lake to the right. I waded through the water as the mud was still knee-deep underneath and the water came up to my thighs.
Here's where it gets interesting.......
As I waited through the mud I saw an area that looks pretty promising. It was wet Peat that was visible over the top of the water. I got close and took a step but was once again immediately displeased as I got a little bit up to my knees and felt a rocky bottom.
I stood up, cleaned up a little bit and went right back in. Once again I was a mediately sucked down passed my waist. I got really excited when I felt no bottom and nothing blocking me from going down. The consistency of the stuff was absolutely amazing. If I were to compare it to something I guess I'd say it was a little bit thicker than the peat at studio 588. I started to struggle and flail around and the stuff literally sucked me right into my shoulders. It took a little time but I was able to do a couple submerges. I stayed there for about two hours getting in and out and sinking numerous amounts of time. After I was done I found a small water hole that was dug up that I was able to clean up in.
Unreal how amazing that stuff was. I hope I don't sound like a dumb rookie but this was my first time and I know everybody remembers their first time LOL!!! I guess I can officially say I'm a member of the quicksand family today LOL if any of you live in South Florida and are looking for a sinking buddy please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks!
