The Beach

Postby 101927700 » Sat Sep 26, 2015 11:01 pm

McKenna was enjoying her time on the beach, but enjoyed it more when she found there was quicksand...

Still haven't gotten head-body proportions quite right, but one day...

Oh, and the lines of light and dark running vertically are an artifact of my camera's frame rate combined with the light I took the picture using.

Ill give you some advice. Try this. Find a pic of an attractive female in a magazine, or book. Now turn the pic UPSIDE DOWN. Then slowly, taking your time draw what part of this pic you want to see in a bog. Then when finished turn it right side up and draw the bog around her.

Your wondering "Why turn the pic UPSIDE down?". That's because this is an old beginners trick at drawing people. Reversing the pic causes the analytical right side of the brain to be tricked, allowing the creative side to draw the pic more easily.

After you get the hang of how the human form is, you will have an easier time drawing people.

At least that's what my old art teacher taught me! Good luck!

Or he could, you know, try not being like six years old.

I was giving him POSITIVE reinforcement. Everyone starts from somewhere. He appears to be a member with a lot of enthusiasm, both in his art and his stories.

It is never a good thing to discourage early enthusiasm. It may cause a person to lose their creative spark, or walk away from something they could be great at. I know all about this believe me.

I'd like to reinforce or second the advice to look at and draw upside down.
I do this still with everything I draw. I picked up the practice in college when I learned about Mary Cassatt who did the same thing with all of her paintings.

If the artist really is six years old, then it's a pretty good drawing.
If not, idk, you can only get better. Keep working at it. No one starts off being really good at it.

To be honest, I couldn't even drew that well at age six >w>. I was drawing stick figures until I was a Freshmen in High-School. I still can't believe how much my work has improved since then, considering the fact I never took any art classes.

Keep on drawing, don't let anyone bring you down about it.

Indeed. And The Man Show was epic funny!

One more bit of good advice for numbers dude.

Use your Intuition! Your inner voice if listened to, and clearly heard, is a great instructor.

When I was younger I studied mysticism a great deal. And everyone did nothing but discourage my searching. Some of my family were very religious, and certain others were just plain stupid and ignorant. I'm glad I ignored them. My life is more meaningful, and rich for my new more positive outlook. Let's just say I've had a recent epiphany.

Not to weird anyone out, or to blow anything out of proportion. But this whole thread is a glowing example of the kabbalistic doctrine of checks and balances. Severity balanced by mercy.

Good luck on your future art dude!
