I noticed the other day a forthcoming movie called "Skull island" or something to that effect. I have a rather vague memory of a movie from many years ago in which the top of a mountain had a rock formation that looked like a human skull. I would have thought the title would have been "Skull Island" or "Skull Mountain," but the IMdB seems to have no such entry. I would have seen this on television no later than the mid 1960's and quite possibly in the late 50's.
Can anyone identify this?

Skull Mountain is located on an island off Sumatra, home to Kong, and has made appearances in every Kong movie I'm aware of. The name of the island itself has changed from movie to movie. Based on when you saw the film, it could be from King Kong (1933), Son of Kong (also 1933) or possibly King Kong vs Godzilla (1962).
[EDIT]
Apparently there is a project slotted for 2017 entitled Kong: Skull Island which is rumored to be an origin story. Probably the upcoming movie you saw.
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

Thanks. It definitely was not the original King Kong, but I will check out the other two.
