Actually, I have decided that I may never travel by air again. Between the cost, the ever-increasing security, the shrinking baggage carry-on allotment and the general paranoia, not to mention the fact that all the good eats on board have been severely cut back and I no longer have any family out of state any more...I think that home sweet home, and the nearness and comfort of my mudpit "Massivia"...is where the heart is from now on.

There was a time in my life when travelling by air was fun. It was an adventure. That is not true anymore. I don't mind the security but I object to being treated like cargo. I won't swear off travelling by air but from now on there needs to be a good reason to do so. As for foreign travel I let my passport expire about a dozen years ago.

Yeah, because thanksgiving. I don't like celebrating this, but I do have a lot to be thankful for. And it's really hard to spend any time with a disbanded family (parents divorced, sister missing since she moved out, and nobody can contact anyone). I don't have to be involved with this travel madness today.

With foreign travel, I had my passport renewed so I could be allowed in Canada. Also, even though I don't like being on planes, I plan to go back and revisit Europe (including Ireland) someday. It might even mean more opportunity for some quicksand. When I do go traveling, it is never this day of the year of course.

I must be a bit odd, yeah, no doubt about it. I kind of enjoy travel even as much as it has changed over the years and even for the mundane business travel I have to deal with. The best of times involved travel for family vacations or better still, heading out on adventures in quicksand production. I remember getting off a plane in Burbank to see Dave and Jiminy Thicket for the first time. The first of many drives to Chester, Illinois to work with Kaol, Chuck Lang, Kristine Lynn and Lance, Pam and Robert, the National Geographic documentary crew, and more. Staying in the same rooms of the same small hotel there and telling the family that operated it we were an internet society of riverbank explorers to explain our appearance.

I recall with the greatest satisfaction the feeling of rendezvous at Little Rock airport to collect the gang for ride to Studio 588 in the Arkansas wilderness. Jenna West, Droopy, Brittany, Brinke Stevens, Paris Kennedy, Lena Ramon, Kymberly Jane, Darby O'Riley, Nessie, all passed through there with me in one way or another. Landing in Las Vegas and running to the next gate to meet ladies as they arrived almost at the same time. Sometimes that meant spending the night in Vegas before or after the start of shooting way out in the desert at the MPV desert lake location. One of the best trips ever was Dave's houseboat adventure but they were all great. There were some serious adventures in North Carolina to get with Krystal at the location she and Devil Clown shared. Meeting Dave at the airport and heading to southern Alabama to gain access to the location we shot at with the ladies there. Getting to and from Boggy Man's great wild locations in Canada was always something of a planes, trains, and automobiles, kind of effort.

Several miles were logged in the course of searching for Camp MPV.

There were times both good and not so much during the course of all this. I've left a lot out but travel is still fun as long as you can roll with it and make the journey part of the destination. If that makes any sense.

The only traveling I usually do for the holidays is from my bed to my computer to my couch to my kitchen and everywhere in between.
