one thing that sucks about the rain is it makes the mud thinner and watery than there isn't the suction that there is supposed to be

All that water, there's bound to be some SOMEplace. I just made some in my back yard. My little frog pond got all silted up, so I filled it with peat moss. I'm considering playing in it.

Well, that depends....

Of course all that exposed thick mud we all like most, is only available when it has been dry for quite a time.

But periods of wet weather have some advantages, too. The bogs over here become so waterlogged and soft that you can literally sink everywhere. Exploring them becomes a really challenge then ("The dawns here a quiet"-like!) I do pretty much like that, carefully probing the area right in front me, jumping from firm spot to the next, having to search for a safer route when it becomes too soft...
Plus: pouring rain is a great addition when you have a waders/raingear-fetish ;)
and it keeps other people out.

I can't find it online, of course, but one of the Cowboy Poets wrote something like "There is nothing so important, neither love nor affairs of state, as a good slow two-inch rain."

Have to point out that if it doesn't rain now & then there will be no mud at all now or then!!
