EDIT: The second story's name is printed in Greek in the contents, so I put the Greek version in the text above.

TERRIFYING Lovecraftian Quicksand in a short story collection
Just picked up a new book, "Shadows over Main Street", a collection of Lovecraft inspired tales set in small-town America. The second story, "σαλάτα χταπόδι" ("Octopus Salad") is definitely on topic for this forum- and scared the living crap out of me, even though I was looking forward to some good old fashioned Eldrich Horror.
Can't say any more without spoilers. Just make sure you read this one in daylight, with trusted friends or family around.

Is that the one with its title in Greek, on the contents page?
Oh tosh! Tanya retorted, quicksand churning,
Round her knees, then thighs, then oh dear!
It got intimate with her hips and her panties,
And squished rather funnily up her rear!

Yep. Remember, the first translation of Al-Hazared's "Al Azif" from the original Arabic was into Greek. Just type "book of dead names" into Google Translate, select English -->Greek, and you'll see how a certain book got its traditional name.
There is one line in that story that still chills me to the bone every time I think about it. . .

Sorry, not a Lovecraft fan. I just had a 'Look Inside' on Amazon, hoping that bit of the story might be in the preview.

Will have to check this out. Been on a bit of a Lovecraft kick lately anyway.
