What she didn't know is that this mud hole was already occupied by a horde of Muddy Hands.

It would seem that the Muddy Hands don't mind Eyril's rude intrusion.
On the contrary, it seems that they wish for her to stay for a while.

To be honest, it's MPV's MPVbleck that's putting such ideas in my head. The way that thick muck molds, around their models' bodies; the way it grips and holds these women is almost as if the MPVbleck was sentient!

Well, the "quick" in quicksand doesn't mean velocity; it means the sand acts like a living thing, same meaning as "the quick and the dead." Same word origin as "the quickening" from the Highlander movies and TV series- you get the losing immortal's life force.
