Pit crew opportunities?

Postby SaveMeOrWatchMeSink » Wed Jun 12, 2024 11:44 am

I’m curious to learn more about what all goes into the production of quicksand scenes. Pit construction & maintenance. Camera & audio equipment. Model recruitment. The whole thing sounds impressive the more I think about it.

Anyone have any current/on-the-horizon opportunities in which someone curious can learn more firsthand? Thank you!

I been flirting with the idea on and off for the past couple of years. Will it happen? Yes. When? Depends if the conditions are favorable to try. I would preferably want to shoot indoors as I can control much of the lighting and environment. I could also have showers close by so the models could clean up. Clearly this would be the most expensive option as I would need to build the set and I have a tendency not to do anything small. Lol

If outdoors, obviously it would be seasonal but location becomes more of an issue because land here isn’t cheap and I think the .gov folks would frown if I just decided to bring a backhoe onto public/state lands. Private lands where I would have the creative license to modify the property to shoot is pretty hard to come by

I suggest looking into the finances. The facilities being described already exist and can be rented. Using what exists would involve travel but that might be a good deal cheaper than building your own, especially if what you build will be used only a dozen times a year.
