The Epilogue to the Druids' Mire Crossing.
And with that, this 6 chapter epic is complete.
And yes, I know it's short, but epilogues aren't meant to be crazy long
-----------------------------------------------------------
Charybdis, Calder, Masika, Muiel, and Neried had set up a small gazebo in their backyard of the great ½ Mermaid Household. It was an impressive sight, but this was no ordinary gazebo. The gazebo held in it the same exact mud that they had crossed through in Marais’s homeland to get a wish made. They wished to be able to recreate the mud that Marais controls, and so, they now have that exact ability blessed upon them. It was a joyous moment.
It seemed like an odd use for their new breed of mud magic, but it was who they were, and there was no harm in using it in such a way either. For now, the Druids just relaxed in their custom-made mud gazebo/jacuzzi hybrid. They had certainly earned it after all. “Did any of you tell the others about Marais’s mire?” Calder asks. “I sort o’ did,” Neried answered. “But I would not be surprised if some overheard me about it.” She then admits. “Precisely.” Masika states.
Either way, the sun was setting over the horizon. Calder took the moment to light some braziers adorning the gazebo as there was nothing like a firelit sink. Well… To them at least there wasn’t. But still. The braziers were lit, and Calder returned to relaxing with her sisters in the pool of mud that had been made. It was a good way to end such a journey. Hardly a more positive note than what these 5 had come up with. Regardless, the set up was well worth it.
“I wonder what Marais would think if she saw this?” Masika pondered. “I think she’d be tickled by it.” Calder says. “It’s certainly possible.” Muiel replies. “Yeah, it almost gives off a vibe similar to her jungle home.” Neried states. “Well, either way… I do hope we’ll get to see her again at some point.” Charybdis says. “I’m certain we will indeed.” Calder replies. “After all, we did promise we’d come back & see her when we possibly could.” She then adds.
“Well, it’ll certainly be a while before we return to her home jungle and see her again,” Charybdis says. “For now, we should just relax and be content with what we accomplished on our visit.” The sisters agreed unanimously Yet, Muiel made it clear that she was the only one who didn’t make it all the way across the mire. “You do know that I didn’t get all the way across, right?” She proceeded to ask. “It doesn’t matter; we managed to achieve our goal.” Nereid says.
Muiel could not deny that for one minute. That much was true. Yet, for the time being, all the ½ Mermaid Druids could do now was relax and enjoy their well-deserved mud-soaked celebration. Because they knew one thing: This will certainly not be the last they see Marais Marécage, nor will it be the last time they see her mire. In fact, they could not wait until the next time they venture to her mire.
