Oh....this ain't good...the URL doesn't even work.

They've gone through so many changes that I can never keep the story straight. How about an URL for anybody who wants a fix?

http://classicwam.com/

I got a set of clips here myself. I love the look of one of the claypits, and they were not charging much.

I don't know the specifics of the current situation but I suspect Messyfun has died of simple neglect. After Rob passed away the company was sold by his mother to someone who didn't take care of things. My understanding is that it was passed through a couple of familiar hands after that. Last I heard, Brittany was in charge but there may have been some remaining legal questions. It could be that she simply had her hands full as a mother and wife. I could be wrong about all that too. 8-)
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

No, after Rob died, Rob's mother sold the company to George of Thursday Night Videos (and I think Daizy of Messyfun was involved for a while). It was run by a small group working for him for about 5 years, featuring mostly Directors Cuts on the membership site. George ran into financial issues and sold it to some shmuck who also owned the Vertical Smiles website. Vertical Smiles unfortunately had no clue what they had or how to run it, as the girls who ran the site were more into public exhibition and fast money than into messy fetishes. George admitted at the UMD forums that he really regretted selling Messyfun. At last report, Brittany was trying to get it back, but evidently was not successful, as the site has now died. However, many of the clips can still be purchased at Classicwam, but I have no idea who gets the proceeds (or whether it is actually safe to do so).

Brittany has recently been doing a few of videos for MPV, so I don't think it's because she has her hands full.

I did buy something from them so this is how it went.

"Messy Mary" (no, I don't know who she really is) put up some promotions on UMD for Classic Wam that had an awesome-looking mudpit. I tried to buy one clip but I was still on dial-up and my machine choked.

So I PM'ed Messy Mary and asked about getting them on CD. She said if I just ordered them and told her where to send them, she would do that. And a package with a CD inside it did arrive. And all four clips were there (and they were the right ones).

This setup is similar to Clips4Sale where you can open a store inside a website where somebody else has set all the stuff up and runs it for you. On the bottom of some of the pages on Classic Wam, it says "System by Soundguy Design".

I know where Soundguy is.

http://umd.net/profile/soundguy

So if you have any questions about whether it's safe to order from the store, I would say that this is probably the guy who can answer that. I do know that these same stores are used by some other WAM producers on UMD.

Brittany hasn't worked for MPV in several years. I think you are referring to the appearances she made for Studio 588. Working for Fred for a few days probably wouldn't be all that time consuming compared to running an entire business. What got my attention about their decline was the lack of new material. I already owned all of the classic stuff and kept waiting for something new but it never happened. Brittany spoke to me a few times about shooting underwater and muddy stuff for her but that never got off the ground. 8-)

Duncan, I stand (or sink) corrected. It was Studio 588. I wish Brittany would come back.

Nessie, I had a lot of contact with Messy Mary, at UMD and privately. She and another "behind the scenes" girl were the two who edited all the Director's Cuts videos. Mary had a BSOD computer issue one time, and I was able to help point her in the right direction to fix it. She was very thankful for my help (she wanted to send me a video, but I couldn't accept because of "prying eyes"). Mary contacted me right before the new owner took over, so I knew about her dismissal, and they gypped her out of some pay for her time.

Back then, I know Mary had some involvement with ClassicWam; I don't know who runs it now, or who receives the proceeds, so I am cautious about purchases at the site.

That is too bad. I didn't know who she was, but she did impress me favorably.

Couldn't hazard a guess as to who is taking the money now or if we should support them...or should not.

I can't answer the safety question. Probably Soundguy could fill you in on the actual mechanics of the purchases.

I haven't used that particular clip store although I have used Clips4Sale and UMD. On those two sites, it's pretty hard to cheat people. After clips are uploaded, the sites take care of everything while the store owner just sits back and collects royalties.

I don't know how private purchases are there either. Clips4Sale did reveal to me who bought my clips. UMD doesn't say anything about who buys. You get a message saying "a customer has purchased" and what it was, and what you will be paid for it, and that's all you ever find out.

Brittany did a shoot with Studio 588 as recently as this past summer and is expected back in 2011.

Studio 588 currently offers more than 2200 different HD and QD quicksand videos and has supported production of well over 2400 video scenes and other projects by 20 different producers. Info may be found at:

http://www.messyfun.com/

just came up on my monitor!

I've got no idea what that means or how they're doing over there.
