Frankenstorm!
As a resident of the East Coast,I am really not looking forward to being without power for several days. The 15 floor building I live in is full of handicapped individuals that have to rely on electric everything(stoves, heat, etc.) and I am not even close to "prepared" meal wise.I am fortunate enough to live in a flood-free zone(I hope) but alot of my friends are not so lucky.I will pray for all those who are in danger of losing a lot more than just their power,as I hope the members of this fine forum will. From everything I see on the news,it's going to a once in a lifetime experience(mine anyway). With luck,it won't be as bad as I'm making it out to be,either way God will watch over me,of that I'm sure...thanks for listening to me whine!

Good luck with everything. And I'm sure some prayers will headed your way.
In any case, think of it as an adventure. Heck, make it an excuse to hang out with someone if you normally spend time alone.

Hopefully this beast of a storm fizzles before it gets too horrible... I wouldn't mind the media hype to be proven to be overblown....
Take care, take cover and the best of luck.

It's not going to be hype, it might be worse than they think.
Early winter storms tend to be bad, and destructive. Expecting 2 days of 50 knots and thats maybe lo-balled

See if you can make a trip out before things get too bad to get things that you need, like batteries, water, food that you can eat in the event that power goes out (like canned items, spam, crackers, even lunchables. Being as prepared as one can be can really help with the worry in these storms.
I'm on the Va coast, so I've been alternating between "It's not as bad as they say," to "OMG! We're all going to die!" So trying to do last minute preperations helps me from going crazy with the latter type of thought.

Feeling your pain man, It should only be a tropical storm by the time it hits my area but the current forcast has the damn thing aimed right at me. Along with other basic survival stuff I recommend a camp stove, some sterno, some instant coffee, and whatever you like to eat that comes in a can. Living off cookies chips sand stuff that doesn't need cooking sucks. Good hot food can be a real moral booster.

Not looking forward to this. Storms taking that "left hook" tend to cause biblical damage from flooding inland, and we haven't finished cleaning up from Irene and Lee yet. Hoping Sandy will turn right and head out to sea like a good little hurricane.
