They actually, ACTUALLY championed how fucking awesome this was in precisely the conditions I estimated. Gee wonder how well this fucking overblown yacht would make out in Typhoon Cobra?

When you consider this thing was designed and conceived by fucking people who make airplanes, it explains some of it. And they watch too much Star Trek. It's important to realize, that a 1942 ELCO PT Boat has more firepower. And not by a little. These assholes actually based operational considerations on 'speed' and 'able to evade enemy action'
Jesus H Christ on snowshoes....ooooooo it can go 45 knots...wheeeee! waterskiing speed! Except, last I checked, you can't outrun incoming gunfire. Never mind IR or Radar-seeking antiship missiles. And it is undercrewed, for even maintaining the damn thing; never mind trying to do any sort of DC when hit. Of course, the fucking retards who came up with this never spent a day at sea, or under fire. Playing Call of Duty is not the sort of thing that gives you the credentials needed. Not a single one of these shitboxes has done anything worthwhile. Not a single one has undergone shock testing, a somewhat controversial procedure that's a separate case, but something the Navy is medieval about. I can guess why though. Aside from the fall down hilarity....it would be somewhat humiliating if they shock tested it and blew it in half

And would utterly destroy the entire concept in spades.
Edit: Shock testing on USS Theodore Roosevelt -- notice the magnitude of the explosion; this is why the entire concept is somewhat controversial -- google it and see some of the onboard vids for some ships. Actual damage is sustained, eg blown circuits, busted lockers, panels, etc. There might be some value to proving ships can take it, but theres also the argument that you take a slice of life off of the hull.
