Final Fantasy X-2 has the Cactuar Hollow, where there is a trap laid out by Cactuars, known as the Passage of Sand, in which the area fills with sand, giving the player 60 seconds to escape said area.

The Second part of Stage 6 in the Super Famicom game "Ghost Sweeper Mikami" had this feature, though she sinks up to her knees...

Well... I don't know if it was posted before but there is a whirl of sand in the desert in the game "Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate".
Sadly, you can't sink in, it only slow you and if you don't move, you slip in the center of the whirl with the slip sprite and look like you sinking a little. It's not a lot but for some person (like me), you can enjoy it. :lol:

Lost in Blue 3 and Lost in Blue 2 and Lost in Blue all for the DS has swamps to cross but they both take a while to get to...



For Lost in Blue 1 you have to get the true ending to play as the female, Skye...

In the upcoming Pokemon game, there are 2 new Pokemon that are basically sandcastles (Sandygast and Palossand). It was stated that Palossand can grab small Pokemon near it and swallow the Pokemon in a vortex.
