I think Captain Sternn and Den were based on stories from the magazine. One of my magazines has a part of a Den story in it. Taarna was inspired by the Arzach stories which were published in Metal Hurlant. Part of the Arzach stores were reprinted in English in Heavy Metal.

I know I saw the one where the guy drives the Corvette out of the space station and lands it with a parachute. But the story ended with the safe landing.
