W00t! I went to see the premiere (in Honolulu, anyway) of Shin Godzilla last night. AWESOME!!!! For someone who grew up on Godzilla marathons, it made me genuinely happy to be seeing a new Toho Godzilla, freshly released in the cinema. Not even overdubbed, but subtitled!!!
GLORIOUS!!!!
And, I have to say, THAT'S how you breathe atomic fire! OH MY GOD!!!
SQUEEEEE!!!!!

Can't wait to see it, even if it is only at home and not the big screen.

Re: Shin Godzilla
Now You've gotten me all excited! I was going to wait until I found it online or until it was released on DVD, but now I can't wait!
Maybe I can beg someone to give me a ride to the movies this weekend. We shall see. I was also thinking about being "that kid" and bringing my Godzilla plushie with me to the movie, but that seems like an awful idea. He's too big to lug around and I'd be super paranoid about someone taking him away from me. I love him too much to risk losing him like that!
Anyway, I'm glad you had a great time, Chimerix!
Does Shin Godzilla make your top five list for favorite Godzilla movies?

Well, this one will occupy a special place, just because of the what and when. But top five? I think I'd break my brain trying to make that list!

Re: Shin Godzilla
Just did a quick search. Showtimes in my area are spotty at best. It's not even playing at the movie theater closest to my house! Actually, a lot of theaters in my city aren't showing it. Was this a limited release?
It would be a real inconvenience for someone to go so far just to take me to a movie, so it looks like I'll have to wait for a DVD release. That or use my magic powers to find it online.

Re: Shin Godzilla
It is a very limited release. One week only, and just in a few cities.
I'd trade favors for the inconvenience. Toho was not going to release it in the US at all, but Funimation Films talked them into it. Who knows when, or if, it will be available for sale here?
