A Starship Troopers Reboot is in the works!

This is fantastic news! I grew up watching Starship Troopers on cable television in my early teens and absolutely loved it. It's the movie that sparked my interest in military science fiction. I've seen Starship Trooper more times than I can count, but I haven't seen it in years! I think it's time for me to watch it again!

My favorite part of the movie, for reasons which were unknown to me at the time, is when Ace gets a knife through the hand! lol! It's a fun movie

Article says they want the new film more close to the book. Hmm, then we have to expect lots and lots of technical details about powered armour and military procedures? I guess the original will still be better, just alone for those recruitment adverts. And Denise Richards. And Barney Stinson!

So we get the Skinnies? And powered drop armour? Orbital drop pods? The tech look done proper would be awesome, but given the average mental acuity of hollywud and the average viewer.... I am not sure they up to the book-level stuff. After all, the actual book is pretty good, not a comic book, and very few tits being flashed around.... :P

We'll see

You never know, Hollywood might surprise us! This reboot might be the next Aliens! By that I mean it might be on the same level as Aliens, entertainment wise.

I haven't read the book, but I think it's sort of unfair to compare a movie based of a book to the actual book. Although the reboot will be based off the book, it's best to go into it with an open mind.

Seeing the Heinlein novel on the big screen with Warhammer 40k style power suits would be awesome. They'd have to add some filler and sub plots to make it watchable by the masses but the core of a good movie is definitely there.

it would really shit on some of the current fans, since if they stayed true to the book a little, There IS a Dizzy Flores character! Who dies, on the way back to orbit even. IN ACT ONE  Boot to face!
The sad part is, the plot is not that far off the Tits n Gorefest we had as a remake. Just a little deeper. And with an actual moments THOUGHT, you could really have something here

Fingers crossed

As I recall, the vast majority of the book was about Heinlein's views on social structure, with only a portion dedicated to the actual bug war. A very nice portion, to be sure, but it was not a book about the bug wars.

If they want to do a really good alien bug against amoured soldier movie, they should do AMOUR by John Steakley. :geek:

The planet was simply called, A9. The air was breathable, the water poisonous, but it had to be concurred, for it was the home world of the most implacable foe cosmically expanding mankind have ever encountered.

WHAT PRICE IMPREGNABLE ARMOUR AGAINST AN IMPLACABLE FOE. :ugeek:

Armour is a badass book, no doubt!
