Please Be Careful on the Move

A very large number of us will be travelling for the holiday tomorrow. If you are one of those on the move please be careful and patient with all the others crowding the highways, airports, rail and bus stations.

Thanks! My daughter got in safe from College tonight, and we tend to stay put as much as possible. Sunday going back will be the tough one, but it's only an hour drive on not-super-crowded roads.

Just saw a report on a MASSIVE traffic jam last night on LA's 405 freeway. Just insane.

Just saw a report on a MASSIVE traffic jam last night on LA's 405 freeway. Just insane.

The 405 is the only freeway I have experienced that can jam up in both directions at the same time.

I actually shared a brief moment with a driver headed in the other direction once. We we both just sitting there going nowhere and happened to look right each other - each of us with a bemused/irritated look on our face.

Lived there for 25 years (not on the west side, fortunately). That was enough.

Now I get to play pinball with trikes while speeding on a mountain bike every morning. Hehe (it's for exercise. I don't really have anywhere to go).

You probably never tried the Central Artery in Boston before the Big Dig. Its wonderful now but before the dig it was guaranteed to be more or less hopeless twice a day during rush hour (ok rush 2 hour).

One of the blessings/hazards/curses of living within 30 minutes of all kin living and dead, by blood and law, on both sides of the family, for at least the last six generations, is never having to travel on holidays. It also means I have to eat once tonight and twice tomorrow. By Thursday evening I am completely impaired.

LOL. I have escaped that, living no less than 1500 miles from my nearest living relative, but I know what you are talking about. Two my father's brothers were married to a pair of sisters, and all four were part of families that saw themselves as the center of the universe. At Christmas, those two couples and their children tried to satisfy everyone (ultimately satisfying no one) by doing Christmas Eve dinner at one in-law's through the main course and then went to the other's for the rest. I guessd they did the same on Christmas Day. It was a mess.
