3-string shovel guitar? Yes- and played by a blues master.

Check this guy out. He plays something like 25 different blues instruments- and is a master of all of them. This is what he does with three strings and a literal shovel.

I don't know how electric guitars work, so not sure how much the frame (in this case the shovel) had to do with the sound produced. Looks cool as hell though, and some good tunes.

Yea, he's got a definite Johnny Winter vibe going there. Shows that you can do a lot with relatively little (in terms of hardware) if you are feeling it.

IIRC, the Rolling Stones just released an album of Blues covers. I need to check that out.

Blues have had a profound impact on Rock over the years. You scratch under the surface just a bit (listen to interviews) and it's obvious. Led Zepplin is a band that comes to mind...

Thanks for the link. :)

First thing I thought of when I heard this guy is, he needs to immediately become the 4th member of ZZ Top. :) I love their bluesy style, most notable on "Jesus just left Chicago."

Cool how finding something good on YouTube can open up a whole genre of music to you right in the right-hand screen previews.

To me, this sounds like Janis Joplin fronting for Led Zeppelin. Amazing vocals and major talent on the four-string cigar box guitar.
