The Orville

Postby kham » Tue Aug 15, 2017 11:46 am

Trailers here

It's pretty much a statement on how bad things are, when this thing - a parody-comedy BY DESIGN, looks better that the SHIT that is Trek Discovery. I likely will watch this. I WILL NOT be watching STD. Lovely abbreviation. I am not linking in anything for it. You can find it and scream yourself. The licencing stuff is enough to make you seek out and KILL everyone involved. And why Abramsverse, you will see no more movies. And why they were in such a screaming panic to kill Axanar. The massive canon violations were the tell; they keep trying to tell you its the TOS-verse, while screaming SHUT UP! they explained . It's not. What they won't say is that they want a reboot with nothing connected. But they dare not, since they already have nothing to sell it on

But Orville? Looks like a lot of fun, and the actual design look has that touch of real that you had on Galaxy Quest. And you dont have to PAY to see it

They did this once before already! It was called Galaxy Quest!
"Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Quicksand! I'm sinking! I'll go straight to the bottom of.......GLURP!"
(a month later)
"Ugh! Yukkkh! Ptui! I'm out of it! I'm free! Not even quicksand can defeat the power of.....the Eye of Zoltec!"

That complaint was already filed
"Why can't we have a Galaxy Quest series! Or another movie!"
Because, the actors involved are a lot older - or sadly, dead. And to use them in a SERIES would bankrupt most networks. You might convince some of the TV -experienced alum , but, really it's not easy. Ever Orville , they must have done some really good negotiating to get the cast that's there

They are likely gonna have fun with this; Favreau is directing the Pilot
But here's a few names thrown out for the next 4 episodes
James L Conway
Robert Duncan McNeill
Brannon Bragga
Johnathon Frakes

Yeah
I think you can pretty much guarantee that there be some inside poker stuff going on

YES! SO much better than anything Paramount has come up with. "Galaxy Quest" is a favorite of ours. Too bad this is on HBO, as we "cut the cord" a few years ago, and never paid extra for HBO even when we had cable.
