They made it look so easy for a Jeep Cherokee to escape quicksand in this commercial (there may be an unrelated commercial before this commercial. For the Jeep commercial, you have to turn up the volume):

But then, the one in the commercial was a 1996 model, while the one in the photo was 1988 or earlier.

I've heard if you sink a vehicle past the frame rails in that stuff it's basically a write-off. Unless you're going to pay $$$$ to get a back-hoe and a crane out into the middle of the desert you ain't getting that back.
