Wasn't there an old TV series from the 1950s called Riverboat which did have a quicksand scene in it. Darrin McGavin was in the series... a girl runs away and falls into it, and Darrin and others have to work together to get her out.

I did a Google search on this and you are right. Not only that but one of the episodes includes Buddy Ebsen, so, almost certainly, that episode is the one with a quicksand scene. I don't think its the one I remember but maybe. The way I remember the scene the woman was forced backward into the mire by some sort of monster. The timing is right.

As an interesting piece of trivia, I note that the name of the riverboat itself is the "Enterprise" and that one of the actors who appears in an episode was DeForest Kelly (Bones McCoy from the original Star Trek).

Small world. :)

That scene of the woman being backed up into the mire... the only scene I could think of that resembles that, and this is after a lot of thought, is Attack of the Giant Leeches - but the problem is it was two people - one a lady - backed up into below the water quicksand by a man with a shotgun... and then it was the leeches which hauled them away. So I guess that isn't it either...

Not sure if I am familiar with the female scene you mention. The key to the scene I remember is 1) she goes under, and 2) we see her arms above the surface after her head is under, and the arms, more or less straight at the elbow, are moving up and down alternately.

I was thinking I should also check out dementia 13 but the victim is not backed up into any mud,
she gets killed after she strips to her underwear and enters a pond. Ive ordered "mystery of the riverboat" off ebay ,

It might be the scene I already have on the wamtec dvd, but theres no actors names listed on there,i will let you know.

While I have not seen "dementia 13" I am pretty sure its not the one I remember, for two reasons. One is the release date of 1963. I was already 13 that year and I think I would remember more. The teaser I saw was on television and I would guess the year as not later than 1959. The other is that the three deaths I have read about for Dementia 13 were a heart attack and two by ax.

I'll admit though that memories do get twisted up, so who knows?

I know what you mean.... I was once convinced there was quicksand in every Tarzan movie... I was crushed to discover it was only in two of the Weissmuller films, and maybe a half dozen times in other Tarzan films - Tarzan's Hidden Jungle, the two British ones from the 1960s, and a couple of episodes from Ron Ely's Tarzan TV show. Not too bad, but still, that isn't all of them.
