DVD Case Mistress of the World

Postby DarthMau » Mon Jan 22, 2018 12:01 pm

HI! Prior to my activities of this Monday, I found on the internet this pair of pics from the DVD case (german edition) of the movie Mistress of the World. This has two pictures from the scene of the rescue of Martha Hyer's character from the quicksand not watched in the movie. I also found information about the German edition of this film that has an hour longer, I don't know and I don't dare suggest that the quicksand scene has more material in this edition. Someone knows something about this?

In addition I attach the link to the trailer in Russian, it has a few seconds of the scene with different footage to the original scene. Enjoy!

I absolutely LOVE the second pic! My heart skipped a beat when I laid eyes on it! I love the fact that they are holding hands. His big, strong hand completely covers her small, dainty hand. I like how his hand is clutching on to the quicksand.

THIS is the perfect quicksand pic for me. I can think of so many fun stories and scenarios just by looking at it!

IMDB does give information that the original German version is two parts and would be about an hour longer. I know the first time we found the scene and viewed it the speculation was that the scene was cut short because the action was botched. It could have been a victim of sloppy editing to create the English language version. It might be worth looking around for this one.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Okay that wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be. I did manage to find a poor quality bootleg of the original version and there's nothing in it for us. This photo doesn't even show up in the scene as our hero never even gets dirty. She spends most of her time calling to him off camera during endless cut away shots of too many snakes that are not even in the same background. Having seen A LOT of quicksand scenes produced myself I'm going to stick with the original estimation that Dave offered as well - they screwed it up and made the best they could out of it.

I hear you but that was expected and too easy. Took only minutes and cost nothing. Over the decades now we have members that have spent literally thousands of dollars searching for scenes that turned out to be lost or never existed. All we can do is keep looking and hope lightning strikes. :ugeek:

Ah, the pioneering days of quicksand.... the youngsters don't realize how good they have it these days. ;)

While this is disappointing. that illustration with the DVD case makes it work the find. Juts need to get rid of the case so we can see it in all its glory... :D
