Video Camera suggestions?

I will almost certainly replace at least one of my video cameras this spring, although they are all working fine for the moment. This is just to ask if anyone here has a suggestion regarding a replacement model? And, if possible, why that model?

I think we can safely say none of the Black Magic cameras will be the choice. Other than that, I guess I am looking for info on features I might be missing. The ability to take stills simultaneously with video, however, is highly desirable.

I’ve had good luck with this but not 100 percent if it has all the features or even meets your desired budget. Anything by Blackmagic designs is going to be steep. I only run and install their ATEM consoles and really have no charge in what cameras venues use but that Sony is pretty solid. There is Panasonic that’s great too but forget the model off the top of my head.

We don't know your budget; if you're looking for a compact, SUV, minivan, or pickup; powered by gas, hybrid, or electric; how many people you need to haul, whether cargo space is important, what kind of terrain it will be operated on. So, we ask.

Unless I was looking to buy a camera for a very specific kind of shoot that demanded a certain feature, I would look at specs first, reviews second, and features... third or not at all.

Feature wise, cameras have focused more into “smart” tech really. While there are some advancements in picture and audio, the focus lately has been live streaming abilities as image capture (a feature you are interested in) can easily been done at your DW). 4K HDR is the latest out there. Is there a big enough difference to invest the extra 1-2k? That’s up to how you intend on using it and your base audience. I’d rather put the money into imaging and audio and worry about the semantics during post production but that’s just me. Your case maybe different. The Sony I just picked out of the pile as I have found myself running into it a lot, clarity is amazing, it’s simple to use and educate others to use but your mileage may vary.

Are you looking to utilize multiple cameras? Connection preference? SDI? HDMI? HDBaseT? SD/Stick Memory only? Is audio a concern? What workstation do you run? There is a litney of questions really. One thing I don’t want to do is recommend a Porsche when all you need is a Chevy and I don’t want to recommend a Ford when what you really want a Mercedes.
