A successful hit job by those wanting to shut him up for speaking out to the black youth.

i do think that was something Hannibal Buress had in mind when he made this a public thing; and it is a shame because i thought Cosby was speaking some truth

but i'm afraid Bill gave his enemies the ammunition by this pattern of behavior
what mystifies me is why he needed to do it... you'd think he could get some women into bed just based on his celebrity, without drugging them

Rape isn't about sex. It's about power and/or the "thrill of the hunt". Serial rapists really aren't that different from serial killers in that aspect.

Agreed, although I sort of have the sense that there may really be two kinds of rape insofar as the perpetror's motivation is concerned. The power and domination motivation is certainly true is cases of forcible rape and I think rape by coercion or through the use of drugs administered to the victim is in this category. The other motivation may be less of that and more about lack of self control, general stupidity, perhaps cultural issues, and similar matters.

As for the trial, I was a juror for a rape cases more than 40 years ago. The case ended in a mistrial before we heard much evidence but I had the feeling that every one of the jurors took his/her job very seriously and understood that job to be to acquit unless the evidence of guilt was "beyond resonable doubt." Remember an acquittal only takes one juror to have reasonable doubt so if the jury is properly chosen and the case properly tried the verdict is likely to be correct. I admit thre are two very substantial ifs there, which is why there is an appeal process.

Not to absolve Mr. Cosby of any responsibility for his reprehensible conduct but his victims could have easily avoided him. He didn't grab them off the street but invited them to join him in private to discuss their futures in show business. That's a setup as old as Shakespeare and I can't believe anyone goes into it totally innocent. This is one reason why it took decades for it to be brought up. I suspect a mind like his regards their meeting with him as something of an agreement that things will happen. It's not politically correct to suggest that people not play with fire but they did and got burned. There will be appeals and I'll be surprised if he ever spends any real time behind bars. Shows how times have changed though because I never thought it would get this far.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Disgusting; what WOULD Robert Culp say?
"Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Quicksand! I'm sinking! I'll go straight to the bottom of.......GLURP!"
(a month later)
"Ugh! Yukkkh! Ptui! I'm out of it! I'm free! Not even quicksand can defeat the power of.....the Eye of Zoltec!"
