I'd like to join but right now it is just too hot to go sinking with boots and gear.
Have to wait for cooler weather.

Had a moonlight mud match with a really wonderful lady once. If you can find the right friend I highly recommend it.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

Re: Sinking at full moon.
It was a wonderful full moonlight sink in my old spot.
The thick peat gives out a good loud slurp as I sink to the top of my riding boots.
The slurping gets louder with every struggle as the hungry mire takes me further down into its perilousy strong grip.
By the time I finished I realised that I was in the mire for several hours including the 45 minutes to get myself out from just above waist depth.
I did end up with quite a bit of mucsle strain as a result of so much struggling.
I would seriously recommend a full moonlight sink to anyone that has never tried it.
I did once when it was really foggy as well as full moon which felt oddly romantic.
I made it back to my favourite spot the other night for a lovely night time sink too.

Re: Sinking at full moon.
Thanks for sharing your moon-light experience Highwayman.
I recently went to my favorite spot after dark for the first time. The moon was about a quarter full so visibility was just ok without a light. This was the first time that I felt that there was almost a zero chance of being seen so I really relaxed and enjoyed the mud more than ever before. I now realize that after dark is the best way for me to relax at this location.
The mud here is very tenacious and it takes me almost a half an hour to work myself free from waste deep. The risk of being hopelessly stuck is ever-present in my mind. When will I go too deep? When will I reach too far? What will I do then?
As I switched on my flashlight I was able to see that no tell-tale prints were left in the deep creamy mud. That made me relax even more. Shining the light on myself I was intrigued by the metallic grey coating now clinging to my body.
The clean-up in the sheer darkness that I was somewhat apprehensive about was actually refreshing. I reveled in the fact that there is a warm shallow stream within a short distance away from my private muddy abyss.
I continue to search for locations to enjoy but in the back of my mind I wonder if this is likely the best I will ever find that is this close to home.
