How I Got A Free Tatoo.......

Postby Mynock » Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:38 pm

Was at my friends tatoo shop getting some new ink, following conversation took place:

"So my Grandpa died." (this is the girl that does the piercings)
"That sucks." (my friend who's tatooing me)
"Yea and can you believe he left me a thousand dollars in change? Gotta go to Coinstar one of these days and drop it off, but it's heavy as fuck."
At this point I chime in. "Change?"
"Yea, it was in his will. Sacks of old dimes and quarters and shit. Weird death-day present huh?" (I got the fèeling she wasn't too attached to Grandad)
My Spider Sense tingled. "What kind of sacks?"
"They look like money sacks from a bank, each one says it's $100. Maybe the old dude robbed somebody."

At that point I knew what what she had but had to see it to believe it. We closed up the shop, went over to her house, and sitting on her kitchen table......were ten $100 face value bags of pre-1964 US coins.....the content of which is 90% Silver........715 ounces.......of Silver. The look on her face when I told her was priceless.

She paid for my ink as a thank-you gift. 8-)

Very cool. When my grandmother died we found 10 rolls of pre-1964 quarters in a drawer in her house. I was overjoyed when I heard about them from my sister. Then she told me she gave them to my nephew who took them to the bank as a reward for helping her. It's a good thing my sister is a really sweet beautiful lady. She's not dumb but if there's an error to make on the side of innocence she will make it every time.
It's a dirty job but I got to do it for 27 years. Thank you.

I wonder how often one of these hoards ends up like that......just makes me cringe. I'm lucky to have been born into a family with several Silver Bugs, been checking my change since I was a kid. Back in the 80's and even the 90's it wasn't unusual to still get pre '64 coins back when you bought something.
